This is a test to determine liver if the liver is functioning correctly. The patient is faster for 12 hours. A pre-sample is drawn. The pet is fed a small bowl of food. A post-sample is drawn two hour later. The bile acids are compared. Normally, there is an increase with normal ranges. A non-responsive post test indicates liver disease or congenital defect.
